Yin Hao, Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and Shi Yugang, the Deputy Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee engaged in a meeting with the members of the Belt and Road International Science Education Coordinating Committee (BRISECC) in Kunming, Southwest China, Yunnan Province on July 23. The event, which coincided with the 8th B&R Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop, brought together representatives in science education from around the world.
Sixteen members attended the meeting, including Mahouton Norbert Hounkonnou, President of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and the Presidential Advisor for Control and Ethics in Higher Education of Benin; Wu Xiangping, President of the China Association of Children’s Science Instructors (CACSI), an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and President of the BRISECC; Seyed Komail Tayebi, President of the Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation, and Manzoor Hussain Soomro, winner of the 2020 Chinese Government Friendship Award.
Initiated by the CACSI in 2018, the BRISECC serves as a multilateral coordination platform dedicated to facilitating the sharing of scientific and educational resources, enhancing information exchange, and fostering professional exchanges between China and other B&R countries. The initiative has grown to an international network, with 22 international and five domestic organizations as its members.
The meeting also drew the attendance of representatives of the Department of Science Popularization of the CAST, the Children and Youth Science Center of the CAST, the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province, and the Yunnan Association for Science and Technology (YAST).
