The 2024 Global Ecological Governance (Nansen) Conference drew to a close in Beijing's Fengtai District on Oct 16, attracting an international assembly of hundreds of industry leaders, top-tier experts, and academic scholars.
The conference served as a platform for in-depth discussions on emerging trends, technologies, and policies in ecological governance, with a particular focus on the development of garden cities, biodiversity conservation, and international horticultural progress.
The event comprised one opening ceremony, eight thematic sessions, and one extended session. The thematic sessions covered a range of topics including biodiversity, bird migration science, garden cities, international horticultural development, the Beijing Forest Forum and forest therapy, and ecological governance.
During the opening ceremony, representatives jointly launched the Global Ecological Governance Nansen Initiative. This initiative calls for establishing a permanent conference mechanism and an innovative platform for exchanges and sharing, advancing a global scientific action plan for migratory bird flyways. Through joint laboratories and innovation alliances, it aims to promote international collaboration in ecological science and education, creating a beautiful home for humanity and nature on Earth.

Additionally, the conference delved into the Data Empowerment for Smart Ecological Governance Initiative and discussed the planning and construction of the southern part of Beijing's Central Axis.
The conference sought to foster the integration of innovation, industry, funding, and talent chains through the development of new quality productive forces. The event concluded with an extended session titled "Garden City Construction 2024 Heritage and Landscape Protection Conference" which further explored the preservation and enhancement of urban green spaces.
