From November 10th to 12th, 2024, the "Energy Green and Low-Carbon towards the Future" Sino-US Young Science and Technology Workers Exchange, organized by the China Energy Research Society, was successfully held in Beijing. The event aimed to enhance mutual understanding and friendship among young talents from both China and the United States, foster the collision and integration of ideas across different cultural backgrounds, and jointly explore cutting-edge technologies, innovative concepts, and policy measures for the green and low-carbon development of energy.

To further strengthen Sino-US cultural and energy cooperation and promote bilateral youth exchanges, the China Energy Research Society invited five outstanding young science and technology workers from the fields of technological innovation and cultural exchange to visit China, including Elizabeth Blindauer from George Washington University in the United States, Roshan Lalan from Arizona State University, Kim Cho from Western Michigan University, Reginald Stephens from the University of Tampa, and Pierce Golden from Suffolk University respectively. These exchanges focused on topics related to green and low-carbon energy development and climate change response. During the discussions, Elizabeth Blindauer introduced the situation in state governments of the United States regarding the promotion of green and low-carbon policies, energy technology innovation, and market mechanisms, as well as plans and progress for decarbonization in sectors such as transportation, building, and industry. Roshan Lalan, Kim Cho, Reginald Stephens and Pierce Golden all pointed out that many universities and laboratories in the United States, where green architecture is being promoted, are implementing policies regarding energy conservation and the utilization of renewable energy. The young scientific and technological professionals attending the meeting expressed their aspiration to actively engage in cooperation with Chinese enterprises and educational institutions in the energy-related science and technology domain. This cooperation would involve exploring innovations in renewable energy projects and the application of innovative intelligent technologies. Additionally, it would also cover the establishment of relevant standards.

The Sino-US Young Science and Technology Workers Exchange also included a special cultural exploration program, where participants gained cultural enrichment at the China Arts and Crafts Museum and the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum and experienced non-heritage handicrafts. This exchange event not only enhanced mutual understanding and friendship among young science and technology workers from both countries but also laid a solid foundation for the dissemination and practical application of cutting-edge technologies and innovative ideas in the green and low-carbon development of energy.

Moreover, since China's accession to the Paris Agreement, it has executed a series of strategies and measures for coping with climate change. In China, "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutrality" have become buzzwords. There is a broad common interest between China and the United States in tackling climate change issues. They have reached several relevant agreements and memorandums, especially in key areas such as new energy and building energy efficiency. In the future, they should continue to maintain good communication and cooperation on energy and climate issues, actively engage in international cooperation on technological innovation and talent development, and jointly explore methods for young talents to promote positive energy and develop new production forces.
