Focusing on promoting science communication issues, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) held talks with the Association Francaise Pour L'Avancement des Sciences (AFAS) at the Paris' Technical Institute of Chemistry (PSL, Chimie ParisTech) in Paris, France on November 18, 2024.
The National Communication Center for Science and Technology affiliated with CAST (NCCST) and the Edition Diffusion Press Sciences SA (EDP Sciences) co-organized the event.
Luo Hui, Executive Secretary and Director General of the Department of International Affairs of CAST delivered a video speech.
Patrice Debré, Vice President of the AFAS attended the event and delivered a speech.
More than 10 experts and scholars from astrophysics, artificial intelligence, biochemistry, epidemiology, sci-tech communication and other fields in China and France participated in the event under the theme of "Future-oriented sci-tech communication".
Representatives from relevant institutions including the Chinese Embassy in France, the Science and Technology Daily's correspondent station in France, the correspondent station in Paris of the China Media Group (CMG), the European Times, the University of Le Mans (Le Mans Université), Paris Tenth University (Université Paris Nanterre), and the Zhejiang University Alumni Association attended the event.
With the aim to implement the instructions of the heads of state of China and France on sci-tech innovation and international cooperation, the event takes the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France as an opportunity to leverage CAST’s advantage of organizational structure to promote science communication in both countries and carry forward the Spirit of Chinese Scientists worldwide.
