China's top political advisory body, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, opened its annual session on Mar 4 in Beijing. Before the start of the grand meeting, international experts are closely monitoring the proceedings while praising the country's development trajectory, particularly in technological innovation and environmental sustainability.
Mahmood Ul Hassan Khan, executive director of the Center for South Asia and International Studies in Islamabad and a China specialist, emphasized the global significance of China's global public initiatives.
"China's global governance initiatives offer valuable global public goods to the world, especially the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative," Khan stated. "I believe these three initiatives will serve as pillars of support, hope, and prosperity for developing countries."
As a seasoned researcher of Chinese affairs, Khan noted the far-reaching importance of the Two Sessions. "I have been studying China's Two Sessions for many years, and the upcoming meetings in March hold great significance. They will address key areas such as economic stability, sustainable development, diversification, and other key areas. Their impact extends beyond China and its neighboring regions, influencing the global landscape," he explained ahead of the meeting.
China's advancements in technology and commitment to green development have particularly impressed international observers.
Christine Susanna Tjhin, director of Strategic Communication and Research at Gentala Institute, remarked: "We've witnessed the transformation of Chinese manufacturing, especially its shift toward smarter and more sustainable production. This evolution is not only in the manufacturing process but also in the types of output. Innovations from China, particularly environmentally friendly products, have become one of the main drivers of China's economic growth."
From Africa, Zali Chikuba, acting chief executive officer of the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR), highlighted China's preeminent position in technology. "The world is eagerly watching for the policies that will be unveiled at this year's Two Sessions and the direction they will take. China has spearheaded in manufacturing, and now it is also making great strides in high-tech industries and artificial intelligence. China is also at the forefront of digital technology development," he noted.
