China's 25th National Science and Technology Week will take place from May 24 to 31, 2025, coinciding with the 9th National Science and Technology Workers' Day on May 30. The National Science and Technology Week aims to stimulate innovation through public engagement in scientific activities, while the National Science and Technology Workers’ Day serves as a celebration to enhance professionals' sense of fulfillment, honor, and mission in advancing national sci-tech progress.

Themed "‌Committed to Innovation-Driven Development, Enhancing Sci-Tech Strength‌", the event series will feature five key highlights:

‌1. Promoting National Innovation Policies and Recognizing Sci-tech Professionals‌

The efforts include demonstrating China's policies on innovation, highlighting China's sci-tech achievements and innovation-driven development since the 18th CPC National Congress, interpreting reforms in education, science, and talent cultivation from the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, promoting the revised Science Popularization Law, alongside commending retired and frontline scientists and encouraging proposals for technological self-reliance among young researchers.

‌2. Celebrating the Spirit of Scientific Exploration

This section will spotlight role models in critical technology breakthroughs, including winners of the National Science and Technology Awards, National Engineer Awards, and "Most Beautiful Science and Technology Workers", illuminate city landmarks in tribute to scientists and bring the spirit of Chinese scientists into schools and classrooms. Furthermore, lectures on scientific ethos, thematic exhibitions, and art performances honoring master scientists will be held, along with "science pilgrimage" campaigns at key facilities like national labs and innovation bases.

‌3. Bridging Cutting-Edge Research with Public Engagement‌

Under this initiative, major R&D facilities—such as laboratories, tech infrastructure, and corporate R&D centers— are encouraged to open for public tours. Sci-tech achievements and breakthroughs in AI, biotechnology, quantum tech, aerospace, deep-sea exploration, and new energy will be showcased through interactive exhibits, expert talks, study tours, youth-oriented programs and popular science videos, expanding public engagement.

‌4. Grassroots Science Empowerment‌

This section features creative campaigns via science-themed posters, photography, and short videos, sci-tech volunteer service programs, and more. It will support rural revitalization through initiatives such as "Culture, Science, and Health to the Countryside" programs, rural dispatches of tech specialists and entrepreneurs, and mobile science exhibitions targeting grassroots communities, especially in old revolutionary bases, ethnic regions, border areas and economically underdeveloped locations.

‌5. Digital Outreach‌

This effort seeks to enhance public engagement, enrich the public's experience and foster a celebratory atmosphere for sci-tech professionals nationwide through high-quality online science content like short videos and livestreams.
