The 2025 Cross-Strait Science and Technology Experts Forum opened on Jun 14 in Xiamen, Fujian Province, bringing together over 200 participants, including scientists, leaders of scientific associations, entrepreneurs, and young researchers from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Under the theme "Advancing through Innovation, Progressing through Integration," the forum consisted of a main session and six thematic sub-forums, including the Cross-Strait Science and Technology Associations High-Level Dialogue and the Cross-Strait Youth Science and Technology Collaborative Development Forum. It focused on topics such as collaborative innovation among science associations, empowering young scientists, and leveraging technological advancements to drive high-quality development. The event aimed to build a multidisciplinary, cross-sector platform for ongoing exchanges and promote integrated development in science, talent, and innovation across the Strait.
Participants highlighted the vast potential for cooperation amid rapid technological and industrial transformation. They called for strengthened industry-academia-research collaboration, shared technological achievements, and joint efforts to cultivate new quality productive forces, ensuring that innovation benefits people's livelihoods.
The forum yielded several key outcomes, including the establishment of the Cross-Strait Navigation Technology Association Consortium and the Cross-Strait Food Science and Technology Association Consortium.
