IGF 2025 Forum highlights responsible and inclusive AI development

On June 26, the Sub-forum on “AI Innovation: Responsible Development and Ethical Requirements” was successfully held in Lillestrøm, Norway as part of the 20th UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2025). The event was co-hosted by the Consultative Committee on Information Technology (CCIT) under the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Internet Society of China (ISC).


Gong Ke, Chair of CCIT, and Huang Chengqing, Vice President of ISC and Director of China IGF, delivered opening remarks. Speakers included Zhang Xiao, Deputy Director of the China Internet Network Information Center and Member of the IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG); Guilherme Canela De Souza Godoi, Director of UNESCO's Division for Digital Inclusion and Policies and Digital Transformation; Qian Yiqin, Associate Professor at Beijing Normal University; Ricardo Israel Robles Pelayo, Professor at the Banking and Commerce School of Mexico; and Daisy Selematsela, Professor at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. The forum was moderated by Dai Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of ISC and Deputy Director of China IGF.The session focused on key issues including inclusive AI innovation, ethical use of AI in higher education, frameworks of AI governance, and the application of AI in educational institutions and libraries.


During IGF 2025, CCIT also hosted a thematic exhibition booth, showcasing research achievements, international collaborations, and case studies in the ICT sector. The forum and the exhibition worked in tandem, while the forum facilitated policy dialogue, the booth visualized real-world implementations, creating a multidimensional platform for global engagement.


Organized with the support of the Chinese Institute of Electronics as CCIT's secretariat, the event exemplified a practical approach to global dialogue: combining theoretical discussion with concrete demonstration. It highlighted China's efforts in responsible AI development and promoted international exchange on AI governance and best practices.
