Zhiyong Tang, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), received the 2025 FACS Foundation Lectureship Award, the highest honor of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS), during the 20th Asian Chemical Congress (ACC) in Bangkok.

The award recognizes Tang's pioneering contributions to functional nanomaterials and his impact on chemical research in the Asia-Pacific region. Nominated by the Chinese Chemical Society, Tang was honored alongside other laureates at the conference, which drew over 900 scientists, industry leaders, and students from across Asia and beyond.

FACS President Mustafa Culha presents the award to Zhiyong Tang.

Tang, Director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST), is renowned for his work on self-assembled nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. After earning his PhD from the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CAS), he conducted postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Michigan before joining NCNST.

His accolades include the 2018 National Natural Science Award (Second Class) and the 2019 TWAS Prize in Chemistry.

Established in 1987, the biennial award celebrates chemists who have significantly advanced the field in the Asia-Pacific region. FACS comprises 31 chemical societies across the region, including the Chinese Chemical Society.
