The 10th China International Nanoscience and Technology Conference (ChinaNANO 2025) opened at the Beijing International Convention Center, as part of the 2025 Zhongguancun Forum Series and Beijing International Academic Exchange Season.

Founded in 2005, ChinaNANO has grown into a leading international platform in nanoscience and nanotechnology, convening every two years in Beijing.

At the opening ceremony, Bai Chunli, Conference Chair and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), emphasized that nanotechnology plays a pivotal role in advancing strategic fields such as green energy, biomedicine, and information technology, calling it a "core force" for shaping new productivity. He noted that China has become a major contributor to nanoscience and a key player in emerging industries, while artificial intelligence is bringing transformative opportunities that are reshaping research paradigms. Looking ahead, he highlighted the need to strengthen basic research, accelerate application-driven innovation, and deepen international collaboration.

The conference gathered seven internationally renowned scientists for plenary talks and over 600 leading scholars delivering invited lectures across 15 thematic areas, presenting cutting-edge progress and research results in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Parallel events included the Women Scientists Forum, Korea–China Nano Forum, the 9th Young Scientists Forum, journal-branded forums, and a Nano Education Forum, all aimed at promoting complementary research collaboration and talent exchange.

On August 29, the 6th Global Nanoscience Center Directors Forum convened under the theme "AI for Science," drawing nearly 40 top scientists, nanoscience center directors, and journal editors from China, the United States, Europe, Israel, Japan, Singapore, and Australia to discuss new opportunities for nanotechnology in the era of AI.

During ChinaNANO 2025, an Industry Forum and Exhibition was held alongside the release of the "China Nanoscience and Technology Industry White Paper (2025)". The report showed that from 2000 to 2025, more than 1.078 million nanotechnology patents were granted worldwide, of which 464,000 were from China, accounting for 43% of the global total — more than the combined numbers of the United States, Japan, and South Korea. The Chinese Academy of Sciences ranked first globally, with 23,400 patents. The global nanotechnology market is projected to reach USD 1.5 trillion by the end of 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of over 17% from 2018 to 2025. China’s nanotechnology patent licensing rate surpassed 8%, reflecting steady improvements in commercialization efficiency.

The Industry Forum also invited 12 entrepreneurs to share insights on technological advances and innovation-driven entrepreneurship, while the exhibition presented nanotechnology clusters from Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and central and western China, together representing industries worth hundreds of billions of RMB.

With its blend of academic exchange, industrial insight, and international collaboration, ChinaNANO 2025 has reinforced its role as a global stage for nanoscience and technology, highlighting China's growing influence in both research and industry.
