Fan Pingyi, a tenured professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, has been awarded the Outstanding Scientist Award by the U.S. National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI).

The award was announced at the NAAI Asian Artificial Intelligence Conference, recently held in Beijing. This year, a total of seven scientists worldwide were selected to receive the honor. According to the NAAI Outstanding Scientist Award Committee, the award is a top honor paying tribute to outstanding scholars in the AI field, aiming to recognize leaders who have made extraordinary and far-reaching contributions to the development of the industry.
Professor Fan received the award in recognition of his foundational contributions at the intersection of AI and information theory.
Founded in March 2024, the NAAI is a professional institution dedicated to advancing the development of artificial intelligence, strengthening academic exchange and collaboration, and enhancing public understanding of AI. The academy brings together leading scientists and engineers in the field and promotes AI innovation and application through research, education, policy advisory services and public engagement.
