To commemorate 2023 National Science and Technology Workers Day, the Service Center for Societies of CAST announced it was offering a comprehensive range of legal services tailored to science and technology professionals nationwide. Available from May 23 to June 6, these services aimed to enhance legal awareness and provide assistance on safeguarding legitimate rights and interests. The offerings consisted of four main components:

Provision of legal consultation services. These services prioritized issues such as the conversion of scientific and technological achievements and the protection of intellectual property including copyrights, patents, and trademarks. To facilitate this, two hotlines were established, and AI-powered consultations were made available through a dedicated WeChat Official account.

Legal knowledge quizzes. Designed based on the Scientific and Technological Progress Law of the People’s Republic of China, these quizzes covered topics including invention and creation, rights allocation, and innovative mechanisms. Through the quizzes, science and technology professionals acquired knowledge closely related to their practical interests.

Dissemination of the Handbook on Preventing Academic Fraud in Publication. This handbook offers insights into methods, potential harms, preventive measures, and remedial actions against fraud and misconduct in scientific publication. National societies and science and technology professionals can easily obtain the handbook by following a simple application procedure.

A dedicated online channel for legal education. SciMall uploaded video courses and legal resources to its official website. These resources were designed to assist science and technology professionals on learning methods and approaches to protect and convert scientific and technological achievements. Additionally, they provided an understanding of legal risk prevention and control in accordance with the Scientific and Technological Progress Law of the People’s Republic of China.
