Journal of Chemical Industry and Engineering (China) publishes original research papers that cover the major advances and achievements in the field of chemical engineering in China. Papers concerning interdisciplinary subjects in the areas of energy, resources, advanced materials, biotechnology, the environment, safety engineering and sustainable technology are especially encouraged.
The journal consists of an array of columns: highlighting thermodynamics; fluid dynamics and transport phenomena; catalysis, kinetics, and reactors; separation engineering; process system engineering; surface and interface engineering; biochemical engineering and technology; energy and environmental engineering; material science and engineering; nanotechnology; process safety; and modern chemical technology.
The published works are classified into four categories, namely, Research Papers, Research Notes, Chemical Engineering Data and Reviews. In terms of their relevance to theoretical research, practical application or potential uses in the industry, abstracts of all papers are written in both Chinese and English in order to promote international exchange.

●As one of the earliest sci-tech periodicals in China, the journal has been recognized by international abstracting & indexing institutes, such as Chemical Abstracts, EI Compendex, and Science Abstracts (Russia), as well as by Chinese indexing and abstracting services.
●The journal ranks first among chemical industry journals according to A Guide to the Core Journals of China. From 2002 to 2021, the journal has featured in “100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China".
