New sci-tech cluster to promote global sci-tech innovation

Under the guidance of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the People's Government of Shanghai Municipality, an unveiling ceremony of a cluster for international science and technology organizations was held in Shanghai on Nov 6, 2023, being jointly hosted by the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology (SAST) and the Lin-gang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.


The event was attended by 50 representatives from international sci-tech organizations in Shanghai and Beijing, national scientific research institutions, universities, as well as relevant sci-tech organizations.


Luo Hui, a member of the leading Party members group and director general of the Department of International Affairs of the CAST, addressed the ceremony.


The cluster, located in the Lin-gang Special Area of Shanghai, is of practical importance in exploring the development of international sci-tech organizations, with the Area being an important measure to demonstrate China's commitment to all-around openness in the new era. Shanghai will further expand its talent pool in science and technology, promote international sci-tech cooperation, strengthen its capability in breeding innovation through the construction of the cluster, with the eventual aim of enhancing the global influence and competitiveness of the Shanghai Innovation Bay.


It's essential for the cluster to draw high-level talents, establish high-efficiency innovation mechanisms, and organize high-end academic activities, to facilitate innovation and foster exchanges among experts and industry leaders, and to promote sci-tech innovation on a global scale, according to the participating representatives.


With flexible service modes, open policies and rich resources, the cluster is expected to continuously optimize its services for international sci-tech innovation organizations and establish itself as a world-class hub for sci-tech innovation.
